The Rules and Practice Committee meets monthly to monitor changes to rules affecting practice in the Orphans’ Court and Register of Wills. The Committee reviews any change to the Pennsylvania Orphans’ Court Rules or other procedural rules that affect Orphans’ Court Practice, and gathers substantive feedback from its members to submit to the Supreme Court Orphans’ Court Procedural Rules Committee as formal comments. This also keeps members current on the latest changes to the rules and forms in the Orphans’ Court and the Register of Wills. The Committee works closely with the judiciary and the court staff to draft and revise Philadelphia Local Orphans’ Court Rules, as necessary. Finally, the Committee is responsible for updating and publishing the Philadelphia Estate Practitioner Handbook (PEPH). The PEPH is a practice resource that provides forms, descriptions of procedures, and practice tips for a wide variety of situations in the areas of wills, trusts, estates, guardianships, non-profit corporations in certain circumstances, and fiduciaries generally.
