Meetings are held monthly virtually. Please contact Sam Lyons at slyons@philabar.org to be added to the Committee’s listserv to receive information about monthly meetings and topics.

Who we are …

The Legal Rights of Persons with Disabilities Committee is a committee of the Public Interest Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association. The Committee's members are a diverse group of practitioners specializing in and committed to representing persons with disabilities. Persons living with disabilities are an integral part of our society and in a myriad of ways contribute to our economy, our education, our government and our lives. The LRPWDC is committed to advocating for the rights of disabled individuals under state and federal law, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Rehabilitation Act, and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

What we do …

The Committee tries to meet once a month to discuss emerging trends in the law, developments affecting persons with disabilities, possible resolutions for the Board of Governors, as well as practical pointers for navigating these everchanging areas of the law. All members of the Bar Association are encouraged to attend and participate in Committee meetings. The LRPWDC also encourages fellow Bar members to "bring a friend" to meetings to spread the good word.

Interested in joining? Committee membership is free when you are a paid member of the Public Interest Section. E-mail Andrea Morris-Tracey, Manager of Member Services to apply.
