Michael K. Smith Oratorical Contest

Through this program, middle and elementary school students are given the opportunity to prepare and deliver five-minute speeches, similar to appellate arguments, advocating a position on a topical law-related issue. Volunteer lawyers coach the students and serve as judges in the competition. This program was named in honor of a former officer of the YLD Executive Committee who dedicated a great deal of his life to working with young people.
