Lawyer - Lawyer Fee Dispute Resolution Program
The Lawyer - Lawyer Fee Dispute Resolution Program provides mediation and arbitration services to attorneys involved in disagreements over legal fees with other attorneys. Our Program helps lawyers promptly resolve disputes in a confidential process and at a low cost.
Participation in this program is voluntary; all attorneys involved in the dispute must consent to participate in the fee dispute resolution program. Attorneys may request mediation or arbitration, or both mediation and arbitration.
Do Lawyers Need to be Philadelphia Bar Association Members?
No. Our Program is open to all area attorneys. Philadelphia Bar Association members pay a reduced administrative fee of $50 dollars while non-member attorneys pay an administrative fee of $125 dollars.
What is the Cost?
In addition to paying the administrative fee noted above ($50 Bar members/$125 non-member attorneys), all lawyer disputants equally share the mediator's and arbitrator's fees for dispute resolution services.
$500 dollars is requested to cover the cost of up to 4 hours of dispute resolution services. For example, if there are 2 disputants, each must pay $250 dollars prior to the date of the mediation session of arbitration hearing. Additional hours are billed at $125/hour. Mediators and arbitrators may request an advance payment for additional hours at their discretion.
