April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the first nationally coordinated SAAM campaign.[1] Since 2001, the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, established right here in Pennsylvania by the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape, has led the national campaign each April. This year’s theme is “25 Years Stronger: Looking Back, Moving Forward.” We have made progress. But not nearly enough.

Perspectives
Philadelphia Bar Foundation - Trustee Perspective
When I became a federal prosecutor, I understood my role clearly: enforce the law, protect the public, and hold people accountable. What I did not fully appreciate—at least not until later—was how much accountability can also look like support, structure, and belief in someone’s ability to change.
