Courts Closed Monday, Feb. 23

All Courts and Offices of the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia Courts) will be CLOSED Monday, February 23, 2026 due to inclement weather. All scheduled matters will be rescheduled for another day by the respective Court Department. All critical services are expected to remain operational including: Municipal Court’s Arraignment Court, Bail Acceptance and the filing of Emergency Protection from Abuse Petitions at the Stout Center for Criminal Justice, 1301 Filbert Street.

Philadelphia Bar Association Releases Statement in Support of U.S. Supreme Court Ruling in Learning Resources Inc. v. Trump

The Philadelphia Bar Association released a statement in support of the Supreme Court's ruling in Learning Resources, Inc. v. Trump. In a 6–3 decision, the Court held that the President lacked authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose significant tariffs on imports from countries including Canada, Mexico, and China.

Board of Governors Update – February 2026

The Board of Governors met on Thursday, February 19. In addition to regular business, the Board adopted three resolutions.

Philadelphia Bar Association Remembers Jason Daria, President of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association

Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Ezra Wohlgelernter released a statement in memory of Jason Daria, president of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association (PTLA) and a shareholder at Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock Dodig LLP. Daria passed away on February 14.

Black History Month Spotlight: Ryan Raymond

Ryan Raymond is the founder of Raymond IP Firm LLC located near Philadelphia, PA. His solo practice focuses on copyright, trademark, and entertainment-related matters ranging from content creation, film, and music. Ryan is committed to advising artists, creatives, entrepreneurs, and growing businesses on establishing and protecting their brands.

Ryan is a first-generation graduate of the University of Florida with a bachelor's in sports management. Before attending Villanova Charles Widger School of Law, Ryan worked in the sports and coffee industry. In 2024, Ryan received the "Volunteer Lawyer of the Year" from the Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts for his dedication to providing pro bono legal services to the creative community. Ryan also currently serves as the President of the Villanova Law Minority Alumni Society and Co-Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association Intellectual Property Committee.

Legal Rights of Persons with Disabilities Committee Meeting

On Friday March 13, 2026 12-1 p.m. via Zoom the Legal Rights of Persons with Disabilities (LRPD) Committee will host Zach Strassburger and Elena Barrera-Waters from the City of Philadelphia’s Law Department during LRPD Committee's regular meeting. They will share information about the City’s recently updated Inclusive Language Guide, along with their work on ADA Compliance for the City.
