The legal industry is experiencing intense competition that is reshaping the landscape for law firms. Legal marketing agency, PracticeMadePerfect (PMP) conducted research and published a white paper about this trend. They found that factors such as a fixed number of compensable cases, an increase in demand, and the perceived commoditization of legal services are contributing to this shift. In previous decades, fewer firms invested in marketing, allowing those who did to build successful practices. However, as more firms enter the market and increase their advertising spend, the competition for cases has intensified, making growth harder.

Leading up to the 2024 general election, the ACLU-PA staff, working with the Pennsylvania Voters Decide coalition, immediately mobilized to defend nearly 4,000 overseas voters whose absentee ballots were challenged in a coordinated attempt to suppress their rights. With strong voter testimony and legal advocacy, every challenge across the state was defeated, affirming the power of civic engagement in protecting democracy.
