Join Our Meeting The Moment Series!

In service to our mission at the Philadelphia Bar Association and as legal professionals, we are using our power, influence, and voice to meet this moment in support of democracy and the rule of law. The Association launched Meeting the Moment to further our mission by finding innovative ways to CONVENECOMMUNICATE and COLLABORATE with different stakeholder groups, working toward the goal of defending democracy and assisting in individuals whose rights are under attack.

Join us as we begin dialogues on topics affecting our clients and the community, the first of which we will be on immigration. Immigrants bring diversity and strength to our community and help to power our city's economy. With the changes in policy at the federal level, many businesses and immigrant communities are struggling with understanding the state of the law while at the same time federal funding for organizations supporting such communities is being threatened.

News

The Philadelphia Inquirer: Philly is down 9 judges, and some officials say the city got snubbed in a deal to fill seats elsewhere

The Philadelphia Bar Association, which has repeatedly called for lawmakers in Harrisburg to fill the vacancies, said in a statement that additional judges are needed “immediately” to relieve overcrowded schedules.

“We simply cannot afford to wait any longer,” said Katayun Jaffari, the chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association. “We, again, urge our leaders in Harrisburg and Philadelphia to rise above political concerns and work collaboratively to fill these vacancies.”

Convene, Communicate & Collaborate: A Blueprint for Advocacy in 2025

As we move through 2025, we are finding the power of our voice to stay true to our mission, to serve the profession and the public by promoting justice, professional excellence and respect for the rule of law. Here are three ways you can lean on our Association.

Removing Barriers to Civil Justice

Last year, the Philadelphia Bar Foundation celebrated its 60th anniversary. We worked hard and ended our year on the high of the Philly Justice Ball. Our plan was to simply build upon the energy from our anniversary year, however, as we begin our 61st year the landscape has completely changed.
