Philadelphia Bar Association adds Legal Search Firm Alevistar Legal Search as Annual Partner

The Philadelphia Bar Association has entered into an annual partnership agreement with Alevistar Legal Search, a Philadelphia-based legal search firm specializing in Attorney placements. The partnership will give Association members access to Alevistar’s extensive expertise in the legal hiring market, including search, management and retainment strategies.

WIP Committee Seeks to ”Inspire Inclusion” and Discuss Women’s Needs and Advancement on International Women’s Day

On March 8, 2024, the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Women in the Profession (“WIP”) Committee held a special meeting to commemorate International Women’s Day 2024. The theme this year is to “Inspire Inclusion,” and WIP had the opportunity to present two dynamic speakers to share their experiences and advice as women progressing in the profession.

Expansion of Application of “Neves Fees”

As you may recall, in Neves v. WCAB (American Airlines), 232 A.2d 996 (Pa. Cmwlth. 2020), the Commonwealth Court expanded Claimants’ counsel’s entitlement to a contingency fee to include 20% of medical benefits. While the Court found that a 20% fee on medical and/or indemnity benefits is reasonable per se, the deduction of the 20% fee on medical benefits was not automatic.
