The ABCs of MDLs

Program Originally Presented Thursday, May 29, 2025

Multi-District Litigation (MDL) is a procedural mechanism in the US federal court system designed to consolidate multiple civil cases with common questions of fact into a single district for pretrial proceedings, aiming to streamline litigation and address issues more efficiently.

This CLE program will explore various aspects of MDL, including the creation and location of MDLs, the organization of plaintiffs’ and defendants’ leadership, issues to be raised during a case management conference, and how to conduct discovery. Panelists will also examine Bellwether selection, experts, remands, parallel state court proceedings, and the intersection with criminal proceedings.

Gain invaluable insights into the complex area of multidistrict litigation with this CLE primer that provides the ABC’s of MDLs.
