Parentage Update: The Case of Glover v. Junior, Part 2

Program Originally Presented Thursday, May 8, 2025

Attend this CLE program for a crucial update to our prior discussion about the seminal case of Glover v. Junior. This case of first impression involves a married female same-sex couple who decided to conceive a child through the use of assisted reproductive technology (ART). The marital relationship deteriorated before the child was born, with Glover filing for divorce and refusing to recognize Junior’s rights as a parent. On March 20, 2025, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court issued a landmark decision, expanding the definition of “parenthood”, and insuring protection for those who utilize assisted reproductive technology to expand their family.

  • A brief review of the history and development of the laws governing intent-based parenting in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • The facts of the Glover case and the trial court’s contract-based analysis
  • The reasoning of the Superior Court decision affirming the ruling of the trial court
  • The Supreme Court decision, including the first-hand experience of counsel in obtaining this victory for families
  • Next steps, and what the future may hold in this exciting area of family law

Join our stellar panel for a compelling discussion about this case of first impression for LGBTQIA+ parental rights, originating from our own Philadelphia Family Court.
