The State of Solar in Pennsylvania: Legislation, Initiatives, and Consumer Considerations

Program Originally Presented Tuesday, April 22, 2025

Despite potential shifts in renewable energy policies, experts and advocates are hopeful that the momentum behind this renewable energy source remains strong as organizations and individuals explore the benefits of solar power. In this CLE program, panelists from the City of Philadelphia and PennFuture, delve into a 'blazingly' interesting exploration of all things solar in our Commonwealth.

The program will address:

  • The January 2025 settlement between Gov. Shapiro and regional power grid operation PJM Interconnection that forestalled the threat of PA pulling out of PJM.
  • Pennsylvania solar legislation including: Community Solar, Solar for Schools, Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards Act, Net Metering.
  • Future initiatives: what effects is the federal regulatory upheaval going to have, and how is the Shapiro administration positioning itself?
  • Behind the meter: what is happening on an individual, energy-usage, level? Lowering utility costs; taking initiative to install solar panels.

Attend this program to learn about the current state of solar energy initiatives in Pennsylvania, and the implications of a changing regulatory and legislative landscape on future developments.
