Persuasive Advocacy Through Motions & Objections

Program Originally Presented Thursday, March 27, 2025

This one-hour CLE course provides the essential tools to argue compelling, strategic motions and objections that shape courtroom outcomes. Participants will explore motions practice, including when and why to bring motions in limine, how to use them to admit or preclude evidence, and how they can influence jury perception and judicial decision-making. The course also covers effective objection strategies, emphasizing how to object properly, preserve issues for appeal, and avoid common pitfalls such as “speaking objections” or inadvertently strengthening an opponent’s case.

Through real-world examples, discussion of case law and best practices, attendees will learn how to integrate storytelling into legal argumentation, making their motions and objections more persuasive to judges and juries alike. Topics include anchoring techniques, judicial cues, the balance between credibility and likability, and practical strategies to protect or defeat evidentiary rulings. By the end of the session, participants will have a deeper understanding of how to leverage procedural tools to advocate more effectively in trial.

Attend this program for practical guidance on persuasive advocacy strategies using motions and objections.
