From Rooney to Mansfield and Mansfield Plus: Continuing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Efforts in Challenging Times

When some firms and organizations became concerned after the SCOTUS decision and dialed back their DEI efforts, others dug their heels in to stay calm and carry-on with their diversity initiatives. Firms and organizations began to review their DEI initiatives to ensure they have a compelling, evidence-based case for their effectiveness and potential. Others began to implement standardized practices such as becoming Mansfield Certified and employing the Mansfield methodology to shift mindsets with respect to building an inclusive culture, promoting and integrating diverse perspectives, and creating a workforce committed to increasing diversity, equity and inclusion across the organization and its operations.

This dynamic program will examine the history of the Mansfield Rule, introduce the Diversity Lab, and provide a comprehensive look at the benefits of achieving Mansfield and Mansfield Plus certifications to continue to advance DEI in the current climate. The panel will examine and address the following topics among others:

  • The origin of the NFL's Rooney Rule and how it paved the way for the Mansfield Rule
  • How the Diversity Lab evaluates firms when providing these certifications
  • How a firm achieves a Mansfield certification
  • The benefits for firms who are Mansfield or Mansfield Plus certified and the impact on measurable outcomes
  • The challenges of continuing diversity initiatives in the current landscape
  • How Pennsylvania firms are participating in Diversity Lab's program and are continuing to pursue certifications
