Everything You Wanted to Know About Mediation/Arbitration for Fee Disputes

Program originally presented Tuesday, October 24, 2023

The Philadelphia Bar Association Fee Disputes Program is unique in that it provides free or low-cost services to the public who may be involved in a fee dispute with their attorney. The program also handles disputes between attorneys over fees.

This CLE program will address the history, purposes, and benefits of the Fee Disputes Program, a service provided by the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Fee Disputes Committee. In addition, panelists will explain the roles of the program manager, co-chairs, and the lawyer and non-lawyer members of the Committee. Panelists examine the differences between the services offered by the Program, mediation and arbitration, and briefly introduce the processes by which the services are administered. Additionally, panelists explore some of the challenges faced by our arbitrators and mediators, along with suggestions as to the best practices for resolution of said problems.
