Workplace Discrimination and other Legal Protections for Employees in Philadelphia

Program originally presented Thursday, October 12, 2023

Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations is the City’s official civil rights agency. PCHR enforces an important set of laws that prevent discrimination and promote equality. In this primer CLE program, panelists from the PCHR will explore workplace discrimination issues and the legal protections available for employees in Philadelphia. They will also outline the PCHR mission and enforcement authority.  PCHR attorneys will address the agency’s enforcement of anti-discrimination laws, primarily the Fair Practices Ordinance and Fair Chance Hiring Law. They will also discuss its complaint investigation process providing insight to employment attorneys that do not routinely practice before the PCHR.

Panelists detail the following:

  • Who is protected
  • What are your legal rights and responsibilities
  • The types of employment discrimination that are illegal
  • The employment practices that can be challenged as discriminatory
  • What can be done if you believe discrimination has occurred?

Attend this program to better understand PCHR, workplace discrimination and the legal protections available to employees in Philadelphia.
