Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Employment Law: AI Is Really Here, It’s Rapidly Changing How We Work, and the Law Is Trying to Keep Up

Program originally presented Thursday, June 15, 2023

Artificial intelligence (AI) and other advancing technologies offer both promise and peril as it revolutionizes the workplace. On April 25, 2023, four U.S. federal agencies issued a joint statement pledging to enforce federal laws to “promote responsible innovation” in the context of automated decision-making and AI systems that are increasingly being used by public and private organizations, including to make employment-related decisions.  In the joint statement from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Department of Justice (DOJ) Civil Rights Division, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the agencies highlighted their concerns that this emerging technology could impact civil rights, fair competition, consumer protection, and equal employment opportunities.

This one-hour CLE will provide expert updates on the latest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) laws and workplace issues, including federal, state, and local restrictions on using AI in personnel recruitment and management. The speakers examine the impact in New York City where its new AI law is taking effect, as well as broader issues of copyright, privacy, confidentiality, and plagiarism. Panelists also tackle the topic of employees using AI to complete their work and the use of AI to perform legal work.

Attend this program as the speakers address AI in the workplace and its growing impact on employment law.
