In this 90-minute CLE program, representatives from the Defender Association of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office (DAO) will provide an overview of the ever-changing landscape of diversion programs currently operating in the Philadelphia criminal court system. Over the years, the DAO, the Defenders, the private bar, and the Courts have collaborated to develop a host of programs that serve as effective alternatives to prosecution. The shared goal among these programs is to provide necessary services to certain individuals, including drug treatment, employment training, and counseling, while diverting cases from the traditional criminal justice system. Attendees will hear about what each program provides and their eligibility criteria.
