What You Will Learn
- This program will examine present-day challenges to voting and what attorneys can do to address challenges, protect voting rights, and out-organize suppression attempts. Panelists will address the following, among other issues: the initial enforcement of the Voting Rights Act, the recent history that gave rise to voter suppression laws, the current schemes of voter suppression and vote dilution, the Rights denied to certain segments of the population, review of the different legislative proposals in Congress and in states, and the tools, including the existing Voting Rights Act, to challenge and fight back in court
