Navigating Code Enforcement in the City of Philadelphia

Many codes and boards govern and regulate the built environment in Philadelphia. Attend this CLE to hear from the Department of Licenses and Inspections and the City of Philadelphia Law Department on navigating code enforcement matters, the various stages of a code violation, and options for resolution at each stage.

The panelists will address the pre-litigation stage, how to avoid having a violation escalated to a civil action, and which board has jurisdiction to hear any appeals. Panelists will also examine the litigation stage, which court has jurisdiction, how the Law Department manages cases and approaches settlement, and actions clients can take to reach a better outcome. Negotiating fines will also be discussed.
