Mediation is a process of dispute resolution that can be beneficial, rewarding, and a welcome alternative to litigation. The growing popularity of mediation as a means to resolve child custody disputes reflects the success of this problem-solving approach. Mediation helps establish the basis for sound family decision making even with the high levels of emotion and despair so often present during the custody process.

This comprehensive CLE training program is intended for trained mediators who would like to mediate custody matters in Philadelphia. The program and course manual provides an overview of mediation process/procedures; examines the basics of Pennsylvania child custody and child support law and educates attorneys on the laws that apply to mediating child custody in Pennsylvania.

Panelists will address:

  • The stages of custody mediation
  • Drafting a mediated custody agreement
  • Differences between a Mediated Custody Agreement and a Court Order
