How the Philadelphia Land Bank Acquires and Sells Properties

Program Originally Presented Friday, November 12, 2021

There are around 32,000 abandoned buildings or vacant lots in Philadelphia.  Vacant, boarded-up, falling-down buildings decrease property values, and have the potential to attract squatters, criminal activity, and possibly infestations (rodents, etc). When abandoned and vacant properties are sold and put to productive use, property values increase, and that can drive much needed revenue to the city.

This program will examine how the Philadelphia Land Bank acquires privately owned tax delinquent property and disposes of property for re-use. Our panelists will address the following topics, among others:

  • Non-competitive sales process
  • Discounted pricing
  • Requests for proposals

Attend to hear an update on Philadelphia Land Bank policies and procedures.
