If your client has been denied Social Security disability benefits after a hearing with an Administrative Law Judge, the next step in the appeals process is filing a Request for Review with the Appeals Council (AC). This CLE program will offer guidance and practical considerations when representing a client with disabilities who must appeal a benefits claim denial. The program is designed for practitioners who do not routinely handle Appeals Council appeals.
The following topics will be addressed:
- The most common reasons for remand, based upon Social Security’s historical data
- Strategies for handling appeals in the most efficient way possible
- Tips for writing effective appeal briefs
- The percentage of successful AC appeals over time and contingency planning in the event your AC appeal is denied
