Getting Paid. N.I.L.: Pennsylvania’s Name, Image, and Likeness Statute and its Impact on Institutions of Higher Education, Student Athletes, and Businesses

Program Originally Presented Wednesday, May 11, 2022

This encore CLE presentation explores emerging legal issues regarding Pennsylvania’s recently-enacted Name, Image, and Likeness statute (on 24 Pa. Stat. Ann. § 20-2003-K et seq). Panelists discuss both the statute’s compliance requirements for colleges and universities and the unique legal challenges student-athletes, regulators, schools, and businesses face in this new world of student-athlete empowerment. What, if anything, do schools need to do to comply with the statute? How will the statute enable student-athletes to be compensated for on-field performance? Do national and local brands stand to benefit? And if so, how? The game has changed in a big way for both college athletes and their educational institutions.

Attend this encore program to hear an update on the activation of name, image, the likeness reform, and its impact on college athletics, regulators, schools, and businesses.
