Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Marc J. Zucker issued the following statement congratulating Hon. Nina Wright Padilla on being selected the new president judge of the First Judicial District. Current President Judge Idee C. Fox will step down from the role later this month and is retiring at the end of the year.
“The Philadelphia Bar Association conveys its warmest congratulations to Judge Nina Wright Padilla on her elevation to the role of president judge of the First Judicial District in Philadelphia County. Following a respected career as an attorney, her two decades on the bench have encompassed a broad range of criminal, civil and domestic relations matters, as well as class actions. For the past 12 years in particular, Judge Wright Padilla has distinguished herself as supervising judge of Philadelphia’s nationally-renown Commerce Case Management Program, providing sophisticated adjudication of business disputes. We know she will continue that reputation for excellence overseeing the Commonwealth’s largest court system,” Zucker said. “We look forward to working with Judge Wright Padilla in this critical administrative role and continuing our Association’s strong, collegial and mutually-supportive relationship with the First Judicial District. Likewise, our gratitude to outgoing President Judge Fox for her stewardship of this role is immeasurable, and we will miss her tremendously.”
