Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Marc J. Zucker released the following statement congratulating Judges Chesley Lightsey, Natasha Taylor-Smith, Samantha Williams and Kay Yu, who last week were appointed by Gov. Josh Shapiro and confirmed by the Pennsylvania Senate as judges on the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas bench.

“The Philadelphia Bar Association extends its sincere congratulations to these four new judges on their interim appointments to the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas,” Zucker said. “Our Commission on Judicial Selection & Retention rated each of them either as “Highly Recommended” or “Recommended” prior to the recent May primary election in light of their exemplary character, experience, community involvement and other qualifications. These qualifications will serve them well on the bench. We look forward to working closely with each of them in their new roles.”
