Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Wesley R. Payne IV issued the following statement supporting timely and substantive consideration for all applicants who applied for relief as part of the PA Marijuana Pardon Project, a one-time effort targeted at people with non-violent marijuana-related convictions.
“We encourage the Board of Pardons to conduct a timely, substantive, and meaningful merit review of all applications for relief as part of the Marijuana Pardon Project,” Payne said. “Our Association has long supported the second chances that can only be offered by pardons. A clean record allows people who have put their convictions behind them to access better employment, housing, education, credit, and other opportunities and services. The positive contributions they make in their communities ultimately benefit everyone in the Commonwealth.”
