The Philadelphia Bar Association has begun providing members with complimentary access to Decisis™, a fast, reliable and intuitive legal research tool.
Launched in 2021, Decisis is a next-generation legal research solution featuring a powerful searching technology designed to deliver precise results and a clean, easy-to-use interface built for speed. This exclusive benefit for members is valued at $1,788 annually.
“We are excited to offer our members this wonderful new benefit,” Philadelphia Bar Association Executive Director Harvey Hurdle said. “Our mission as an association is to help legal professionals do their jobs more efficiently and effectively. Our partnership with Decisis will do just that, offering significant potential cost savings to solo and small firms, who could use it as a primary research tool, while also augmenting the research resources available to legal professionals at large firms.”
The Association is offering all legal professionals a one-month free trial of Decisis during the month of December. “Our member test group was impressed with the power and ease-of-use of Decisis and we’re confident that those who take advantage of the trial will adopt it as their research tool of choice – and for non-members to join our Association as a result,” Hurdle said.
Using Decisis’ Google-like interface, legal professionals can conduct searches using natural language (i.e., typing in key terms), search operators and citations, and also access a citator that is more effective and robust than that of its competitors, including Fastcase. Decisis also provides access to more caselaw than Fastcase, and the secondary sources that were previously available through Casemaker. Philadelphia Bar Association members can use Decisis to conduct legal research across all state and federal courts across the country.
Decisis offers tailored search filters designed to pull highly relevant results from its database, and enhanced customer support that is available seven days a week for both research assistance and technical help.
“We’re always looking for ways to maximize the value of Philadelphia Bar Association membership and we feel Decisis will offer our members a research tool that really stands out from the crowd,” Chancellor Wesley R. Payne IV said.
