A new ruling by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has broadened the venue rules for medical malpractice cases.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Thursday has reversed the rules governing venues for medical malpractice cases in the Commonwealth, allowing plaintiffs to resume filing such cases in any county in the state where they regularly do business or have significant contacts. Since 2003, plaintiffs in medical malpractice cases were restricted to only suing providers in the counties where the plaintiff received the alleged problematic treatment.
