Law school is not an easy journey – and who better to give advice for weathering the hardships than those who have gone through it?
Submit your entry today to the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Law Student Essay Contest! We are accepting essay entries from current or recently graduated law students who have strong advice for new or aspiring law school applicants. Some examples include, but are not limited to: How to choose a school, strategies for studying for the LSAT, tips for maintaining a school-work-life balance, recommended classes, types of networking or volunteer activities to seek out, etc. If you feel like you have advice worth sharing, don’t hesitate to apply!
Eligibility: Any rising 2L, rising 3L, or recently graduated law student attending a Philadelphia area law school (University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law, Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law, Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, Widener University Delaware Law School, Rutgers University Law School-Camden)
Submission Guidelines:
- Essays should be between 500-1,000 words in length
- Essays should be formatted as either a Microsoft Word or Pages attachment (no pdfs)
- Email your entry to communications@philabar.org with the subject line “Law Student Writing Contest”
- Submission deadline: EOD Tuesday, Sept. 6
Winning Submission:
The winning writer will receive a $500 prize sponsored by 7Sage, plus publication of their essay in the Fall 2022 issue of The Philadelphia Lawyer, the Association’s quarterly magazine.
