Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Wesley R. Payne IV issued the following statement congratulating Jacqueline C. Romero on her historic confirmation as the new U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania:
“In her 20-year career in public service, including 16 years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, Jacqueline Romero has truly embodied the professionalism, strong sense of community involvement, advocacy, and tenaciousness that define Philadelphia lawyers,” Payne said. “She will be the first woman and the first Hispanic and LGBTQ leader to serve as U.S. Attorney for the EDPA, and we can think of no better choice to serve in the role. The Philadelphia Bar Association was proud to submit a letter in support of her nomination and of a swift confirmation process to the chairs of the Senate Judiciary Committee and to Sen. Casey and Sen. Toomey. We stand ready to support her in her new role.”
