A coalition of bar associations led by Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Lauren McKenna and Pennsylvania Bar Association President David Schwager have sent a letter to Governor Tom Wolf and Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam requesting that the COVID-19 vaccination level of lawyers practicing in congregate settings be raised from 1C to 1B.
"The Commonwealth faces a tremendous backlog of court cases and other matters due to the pandemic. Clarifying eligibility for Phase “1B” to include these attorneys will allow them to represent their clients’ interests in a safer and more effective manner. It also will reduce the chances that COVID-19 will spread within the courts and create further delays for defendants who in some cases have languished in prison for months."
