Mail-in voting will serve a more prominent role than ever before in the upcoming November General Election. As governments across the nation ramp up efforts to increase the capacity for fielding an influx of mail-in votes in November, what is the status of Philadelphia’s preparations?
On Wednesday, August 19 at 4 p.m., join Take Action Philly’s expert panel for a roundtable discussion of the City of Philadelphia’s preparations for this year’s General Election at the virtual event Making Every Voter Count: How We Can Ensure a Free and Equal Election in Philadelphia.
The panel will feature Lisa Deeley, Philadelphia City Commissioner; Omar Sabir, Philadelphia City Commissioner; Patrick Christmas, Policy Director, Committee of Seventy; and Donnell Drinks, Election Protection Coordinator, ACLU of Pennsylvania. Advocates and election officials will talk about some of the key issues ahead of the November election, including: (a) the efforts being made to ensure that every voter can cast his or her ballot safely and have that vote be counted; (b) the plan to address the overwhelming administrative and financial challenges in preparing for the election as well as to rebut wild misinformation about the integrity of the voting process; and (c) how regular Philadelphians can play a role make our City’s election free, fair, and equal.
Participants will walk away with information about how to assist voter registration efforts; and how to volunteer to protect the vote; and how to join the effort by serving as a poll worker. Together, we will make sure every Philadelphia voter’s voice is heard.
