On Tuesday, June 16, Mayor Jim Kenney announced the designation of June 19 as an official city holiday. Also known as Juneteenth, the day commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

In accordance with the closing of city offices, facilities, and the courts, the offices of the Philadelphia Bar Association will be closed on Friday and will reopen on Monday, June 22.
