In light of last night’s shooting in Las Vegas, considered to be the “deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history,” Chancellor Deborah R. Gross issued the following statement:

“Tragic and senseless mass shootings cannot be tolerated as a routine part of our existence as a society. We mourn the catastrophic loss and honor the dozens who lost their lives, as well as the hundreds who were injured, by calling on our legislators to enact stricter laws to limit public access to semi-automatic assault weapons. The Philadelphia Bar Association has a longstanding position of supporting efforts to limit possession of semi-automatic assault weapons. The time is now to end legislative indifference and to prevent the devastating consequences of heartbreaking deaths and injuries.”
