Deborah R. Gross, Chancellor-Elect of the 12,000-member Philadelphia Bar Association, today issued the following statement regarding the conviction of Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane:

"Watching this case unfold has been an embarrassment to the legal profession and a taint on our Commonwealth. I join with Gov. Wolf in calling for the immediate resignation of Kathleen Kane. The Attorney General is the chief law enforcement officer of the Commonwealth. We need to restore the public’s confidence in our justice system and ensure that the Office of the Attorney General is doing its job effectively. I strongly encourage Kathleen Kane to step down from office so that the Office of Attorney General can move forward and start with a clean slate."
