Gaetan J. Alfano, Chancellor of the 12,000-member Philadelphia Bar Association, today issued the following statement on the passing of Judge Alex Bonavitacola, former president judge of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas:
"Judge Bonavitacola was a fair, respectful and thoughtful jurist. He made a lifelong commitment to the bench and has received notable awards and recognition throughout his distinguished career. In 1996, Judge Bonavitacola received the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Justice William J. Brennan Jr. Distinguished Jurist Award. In 2001, he was honored with our coveted Bar Medal. His many contributions to our legal community will not be forgotten."
