A panel discussion with L.L.M. candidates active in human rights work will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at noon in the Philadelphia Bar Association's 11th Fl. Conference Center, 1101 Market St.
The L.L.M. students, all candidates at Temple Beasley School of Law, will talk about how they got involved in human rights work and offer their perspectives regarding current issues in their countries. The panel includes Raquel Cohen from Peru, Juliane Baxmann from Germany and Jiefeng (Jeff) Lu from China. Juliane has extensive experience working with Amnesty International and Jeff has done anti-employment discrimination advocacy in China on a grassroots level, and has represented Chinese workers who have been treated unfairly due to their health status (hepatitis or HIV).
The program is free but RSVP is required, by Friday, Nov. 18, to mkossakowski@philabar.org. Lunch will be available for $5 at the door.
