Nominations are being accepted for Philadelphia Bar Association’s Large Firm Management Committee Public Service Awards to be presented to honor and recognize two young attorneys for their exceptional pro bono or public service work. Eligible attorneys must have practiced law for five years or less in private practice or the public sector. The awards will be presented at the Citywide Summer Associate Reception on Thursday, July 16 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Water Works. The awards will honor young lawyers who have made a difference in Philadelphia through extraordinary pro bono representation or public service to individuals or entities that address the challenges faced by communities of need in the City of Philadelphia.

Nominations must be made in writing and no longer than two typed pages. Please include a detailed statement setting forth information and reasons why you are recommending the nominee for this award.

Nominations should be sent to Rachel Kipp via email at communications@philabar.org with the subject line “Public Service Award Nomination” or by mailing to: Philadelphia Bar Association, c/o LFMC Pro Bono Excellence Award Committee, 1101 Market Street, 10th Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19107.

Nominees must meet one or more of the following criteria:

  1. Significant accomplishments in pro bono representation of a client or clients;
  2. Significant service and leadership for an organization whose mission is to address the challenges of communities of need in Philadelphia;
  3. Significant service and leadership in establishing a new organization designed to address the challenges of a community of need in Philadelphia; and
  4. Excellent and exemplar non-legal leadership of a charitable organization in Philadelphia.

The deadline for receipt of nominations is Friday, June 5.
