Whether you've served in a Philadelphia Bar Association leadership position in the past, or this would be your first time, all are encouraged to participate in this year's Bar Association elections. Here's what you need to know:

  • The open offices are Vice Chancellor, Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Secretary, Assistant Treasurer, and five seats on the Board of Governors. Each carry a one year term, and candidates can run for up to three terms. Each Board seat carries a three-year term.
  • There are also seven seats open on the Young Lawyers Division Executive Committee. Only members of the YLD can run for those seats.
  • If you want to run for any office, you need to request a nomination petition from David Truman, director of policy and governance. Petitions are available now! Email David at dtruman@philabar.org

Nomination petitions for candidates of the Board of Governors need signatures from at least 25 Association members who are entitled to vote; candidates for Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Secretary, and Assistant Treasurer need at least 35 member signatures, and candidates for Vice Chancellor need at least 100 signatures. YLD Executive Committee candidates need one signature.

The completed petitions are due no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
