Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Marc J. Zucker issued the following statement congratulating City Law Department Litigation Chair Renee Garcia on being named Philadelphia's next city solicitor.
"The Philadelphia Bar Association offers our sincere congratulations to Renee Garcia for being named Philadelphia's next city solicitor by Mayor-elect Parker. Garcia's tenure as the Chair of Litigation in the Philadelphia Law Department over the past two years positions her well to lead the Law Department. Her work has resulted in consequential litigation addressing access to justice and gun violence, two issues central to the Association's mission," Zucker said.
"As a valued member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, Garcia has partnered with us on several continuing legal education programs. We look forward to working with her more closely in the new year as Philadelphia's chief legal officer."
Garcia also serves on the Boards of Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania, the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania and the arts non-profit Intercultural Journeys. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2008 and her B.A. from Barnard College, Columbia University in 2003.
